After serving in the United States Air Force and a career as a paramedic, David Drum, PA-C, began his career as a physician assistant in 1988 after receiving his AAS in Surgeon Assistant from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. He then earned his National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants before joining Oak Ridge Surgeons as a PA-C in private surgical practice of general surgery and peripheral vascular surgery. In his 18 years there, he assisted in surgery; participated in clinic evaluation, hospital rounds, and surgical consultations; and managed postoperative patient care.
After further experience in sleep medicine and emergency room care, he found his way back to vascular care at the MMC Wound Treatment Center, where he managed daily wound care, participated in debridements and procedures, and supervised hyperbaric treatment associated with wound care.
Joining APEX Vascular in 2025, David brings a wide variety of experience, exceptional patient care, and a passion for vascular health. He prioritizes making patients feel comfortable and informed and developing meaningful relationships, treating patients like family.
Outside of his professional life, David enjoys aviation, holding a pilot’s license, and he also spends a lot of his time with his four grandchildren and gardening with his wife.
