Dr. Umashankar Ballehaninna, MD, FSVS, RPVI, “Dr. B” for short, is a board-certified vascular surgeon with expertise in both Vascular Surgery and General Surgery accredited by the American Board of Surgery. Bringing extensive experience, he employs a range of minimally invasive and open surgical techniques to address various vascular conditions, particularly focusing on advanced endovascular skills for limb preservation.

His specialization includes the treatment of carotid artery disease, showcasing proficiency in procedures like trans-carotid artery revascularization (TCAR) and carotid endarterectomy. Dr. Ballehaninna is well-versed in managing aneurysmal diseases such as abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), iliac, and thoracic aneurysms, utilizing endovascular repair techniques like EVAR, iliac branch endografts, and FEVAR (fenestrated endografts).

Dr. B provides a comprehensive range of vascular therapies, encompassing both open and minimally invasive approaches, for conditions like peripheral vascular disease, limb salvage, and varicose veins. His dedication to limb preservation is evident as he focuses on improving circulation for enhanced wound healing. He also utilizes latest minimally invasive ablation/laser treatments to address varicose vein disease with ulcer and leg swelling. Dr. B’s expertise also includes hemodialysis access procedures including creation of arteriovenous fistula and grafts, and the necessary maintenance with outpatient fistulogram/angioplasty/stent procedures.

Outside of work, Dr. Ballehaninna enjoys quality time with his family, engaging in road biking, road trips, music, and gym workouts/CrossFit. His passion for teaching is evident through his involvement with medical students and residents, and he is a published author with multiple research papers and presentations.
